Pennsylvania Sierra Club Endorses Adrian Rivera-Reyes for City Council

Environmental Protection a Top Priority for Rivera-Reyes

April 25, 2019 — The Pennsylvania Sierra Club today announced its endorsement of Adrian Rivera-Reyes for Philadelphia City Council At-Large in the Democratic primary on May 21.

“We are proud to endorse Adrian Rivera-Reyes for City Council At-Large,” said Jim Wylie, chair of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Sierra Club Executive Committee. “Adrian has demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting the environment. We are confident that Adrian will work to protect Philadelphia’s air, water, and land and build a clean energy economy that works for all Philadelphians.”

“Protecting our environment is a moral imperative and I am proud to have Sierra Club’s support in this fight,” said Adrian Rivera-Reyes. “We need leaders who will take real action to stop climate change. I am fiercely committed to making Philadelphia a leader in clean and renewable energy, and I look forward to working with Sierra Club to protect our city and our planet for our families and our future.”

Adrian has made environmental justice a cornerstone of his campaign, calling for a municipal Green New Deal to transition Philadelphia to 100% renewable energy and eliminate carbon emissions by 2030. As a member of City Council, Adrian will bring an evidence-based approach to policy-making and push for policies that ensure clean air and water for all Philadelphians, create high-paying jobs in green technology and infrastructure, and make our streets safer and cleaner.

Since their founding in 1892, the Sierra Club has protected America’s wild places and wildlife. In addition, the Club works to protect public health and ensure safe and healthy communities that are free of toxic air and water pollution. The Sierra Club and its 3 million members and supporters work to support candidates who share these values.
